Perils of replacing Judeo-Christian morality by politically correct one

In the 18th century, the morality of the Torah/Bible Ten Commandments and their derivatives have created a spiritually and economically strong American Nation – in the 20th century, the morality of the politically correct “progressive” commandments are destroying all that.

At the core of Judeo-Christian morality, lays the Golden Rule, which states that in a nation (the Golden Rule had been created for a group of people who lived together, knew each other and had mutual understanding of what is Good and what is Bad for them, and that is how a nation is defined), “one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself”. If it is so, the role of a human government in a Golden-Rule nation should be not to manage the lives of individuals and various human communities but rather to protect and defend the diverse communities from possible internal and external violators of the Golden Rule.

At the core of politically correct morality, lays a sort of Oppression Rule, which states that various human communities in a nation are adversary to each other and the role of a human government has to manage adversarial relations among adversarial communities – manage through government laws and regulations.

The American Judeo-Christian morality unites the nation while the politically correct morality fractures the nation

The politically correct morality fractures the nation by splitting it into adversary groups such as African-American, Hispanic American, Native American, etc., which, as the politically correct troops declare, have been oppressed by the chief oppressors being the White Americans, right-wing extremists and Christian fundamentalists. The oppressed groups should be compensated for economic and moral suffering and the first step is to subject the chief oppressors to sensitivity training to indoctrinate them in accepting various affirmative actions aimed at constraining the presumed oppressive forces in the nation. Among those affirmative actions are the entitlements – the oppressed are entitled to almost everything what the oppressors may have.

In the American Judeo-Christian morality, there is no oppressors and oppressed – the American Judeo-Christian morality enhances the equality of everybody in the “image and likeness of God”.

The American Judeo-Christian morality promotes the societal advancement while the politically correct morality harms the advancement

The mighty tool for any advancement is the competition among various groups and individuals in all spheres of human activities – in science, in technology, in economics, in ideology, in religion, in politics, etc.

In the American Judeo-Christian morality, everybody is equal in “the image and likeness of God” and therefore has a sort of divine ability to do something better than the others – that is to compete with the others and therefore to advance yourself and the society. In the American Judeo-Christian morality, there is a free market of competing ideas – you have advance your own ideas by peacefully competing with the others.

However, the politically correct morality harms the competitiveness by legislating or encouraging the anti-competitive concepts such as the following.

Victimization – you are a victim of the oppressive forces in the nation and therefore you cannot have a fair chance in the competition.

Multiculturalism and nonjudgmental-ism – you should not compete with other cultures and should judge the behavior of the others – for you, all cultures should be of equal spiritual value.

If you do not compete, if you do not strive to be better, there is no advancement.

The American Judeo-Christian morality strengthen the family while the politically correct morality destroys it

In the American Judeo-Christian morality, a man and a woman create a family to procreate, to bring up children along the lines of American Judeo-Christian morality tailored to individual family spiritual stream guidelines, having different but equally important family responsibilities.

The politically correct morality assaults all those values. It clearly seen in the slogans of this morality.

Feminism, male chauvinism, no-fault divorce, sexual harassment in the family, same-sex marriage, all these slogans are the tools for pushing a wife/mother out of her unique family role and reducing the utmost importance of the family in the fabric of our nation.

The politically correct morality builds the road to socialism

And finally, the invention of social justice — the politically correct synonym for socialism, where the big government is obligated to deliver the “happiness” to all its subjects by redistributing wealth from the more fortunate to the less fortunate. The history have presented convincing proof of the misery created by the socialism=social-justice in the Former Soviet Union, in contemporary Russia, in Cuba, in Brazil, in Venezuela, and in many other places. However, there is no history lessons for the politically correct instigators.

Indeed, now we see the perils of replacing Judeo-Christian morality by politically correct one. Let us hope it is not too late to get back.

That is a civil war where the very existence of the nation is at stake

A nation is not a herd of human species who are being born and deceased on one large piece of land called a country. What distinguishes a nation from a herd is a set of fundamental rules from the Guiding Power that makes individual lives purposeful far beyond their lives in mortal human bodies.

At the core of our current civil war is the fact that the two fighting communities define the Guiding Power in a fundamentally different way.

One fighting community defines the Guiding Power as an Eternal All-mighty Superpower above us the humans that created all us and provided us with a set of rules for living “in His image and likeness”. In our country, this community is called the Judeo-Christian community. Its Guiding Power called God guides them in the Torah/Bible-inspired actions.

The essence of this guidance is well known:

We are created spiritually equal in the image and likeness of God Who empowers all human individuals with the ability of being a creative master of the life of him/her-self, his/her family and community. The role of a democratically elected government is to safeguard this ability of human individuals. Everybody has equal opportunities given to him/her by God but realization of the equal opportunities depends on an individual him/her-self. That is why the economic results are different. Some people are rich and some are poor, some live from a paycheck to a next paycheck. Also, there are those who are misfortunate and cannot support themselves and who are helped through the mitzvah/charity.

The other fighting community defines the Guiding Power as a human government, which with the help of the news media and powerful social institutions forces us to live along the lines of its rules created to strengthen its own power under the slogans of human rights and social justice. In our country, a most popular name for this community is the Progressive community. This community is guided by the human ideas very close to the ideas, which were presented in the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx.

The essence of this guidance is well known as well:

The Progressive community are guided by the idea that all people should be economically equal independently of their ability to be creative masters of their own lives and the lives of their families and communities. Therefore, a democratically elected government has to be a provider of economic equality, and to do it through the wealth redistribution.

The civil war between the two communities decides the spiritual future of the nation. Do the nation continue advancing and strengthening its Torah/Bible-guided Judeo-Christian spiritual foundation? Or, the nation rejects this foundation and replaces it by the Progressive foundation which is known as the human rights and social justice?

The Judeo-Christian community now has its spiritual leader – it is US President Donald J. Trump – the most able leader of the anti-Judeo-Christian community many believe has been former US President Barak Hussein Obama.

The Jews and the Christians are in both communities. However, as some would say, the Jews and Christians in the Progressive community are Jews and Christians “in the name only”, since the Progressive, Communist Manifesto guided principles are adversary to Judeo-Christian principles.

The Progressive community, if the Judeo-Christian community defeats it, is going to lose bigly because of drastic reduction in its electoral power base:

·         Many millions of government and public taxpayers-paid jobs occupied by the Progressive community spiritual members are eliminated – the “eliminated” would be privately employed

·         Immigration of people with non-Judeo-Christian traditions is sharply decreased – the Judeo-Christian community would be strengthen

·         Progressive news media is sharply reduced in electoral influence – new pro-Judeo-Christian news media would be born

·         Welfare community is sharply reduced in numbers – welfare recipients would be moving to various workplaces or private charity assistance

·         Community of people who are receiving the special government protection and benefits (based on race, color of skin, education, wealth, gender, country of origin, religion, etc.) is sharply reduced – the nation would be much more united.

We observe the fierce resistance of the Progressive community to all that, that has pushed the nation to a current civil war. The most effective weapon in the arsenal of the Progressive community is the sabotage of all governing actions of the current Judeo-Christian President and the Congress –the sabotage by publishing fake news, by violent street demonstrations, by delaying congressional approvals, by bring to standstill new laws in liberal courts, etc. For the Judeo-Christian community to win, it has to respond very forcefully.

That is a civil war where the very existence of the nation is at stake. If the Judeo-Christian community wins, the nation would restore its Judeo-Christian greatness and preserve the nation as its Guiding Power “designed” it. If the Progressive community wins, the nation would become a completely different entity with an unclear future.

For Trump, the government is business, not politics, and that is what we need

Indeed, for Trump, the government is business, not politics – and this is what we had missed for a long time.

In the politics, the elected government leaders are governing the country by finding the consensus of the governed. The consensus is at the core of any democracy, and until recent times it worked nicely.

President Bill Clinton on immigration:

https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4351026/clinton-1995-immigration-sotu

In this video-presentation, President Bill Clinton underscored the failed immigration policies and related dangers for the country – the bipartisan consensus in the Congress on the topic was evident. Twenty years later, Donald Trump underscores the same problem and suggested solutions – no consensus at all.

————-

Nowadays the consensus is impossible to find – not only on the immigration but also on almost everything. The latest pro-Trump and anti-Trump manifestations, proclamations, accusations, marches and legislative battles are clear indication of that — in the demands of both sides there is nothing that could constitute a common ground. That is a clear indication that the US are in the state of a (cold) civil war as I described in one of my recent posts.

If that is the case, the only way to govern is to treat the government as a business, and Donald Trump is perfectly suited to do this. He was elected not to find a consensus in the nation but rather to “make America great again” as the majority that elected him envisions it, with the hope that the rest of population may appreciate the new social arrangements in the country. How the majority that elected him may find out that we are on the way of making America great again?

That is not that difficult – just recall what made America a great country at the beginning when she was truly great.

Below is a reminder of the social arrangements at the times of American greatness.

·         Judeo-Christian Bible-guided morality was directing the legislative work of the government with no religious authorities at the helm – this morality has to be restored and has to replace the human-made morality of “social justice and human rights”. The Judeo Christian Bible-guided morality is in essence the morality of the Ten Commandments in their American Judeo-Christian interpretation – to strengthen spiritually the nation and let the others follow if they are willing.

·         A small government consuming a minimal part of GDP without critical interference into the free-market economy through government imposed regulations – for example, to reduce the size of the government from the existing about 2/3 to 1/3 of GDP.

·         Helping the disadvantaged mostly through non-governmental charities with the government involved only on as-needed basis.

·         An immigration policy that promotes the immigration of those who are eager to follow the Judeo-Christian morality of the country – not to weaken it by introducing rival moralities.

·         America was respected because of her moral, economic and military strength – not because of numerous free goodies provided to the others.

Is there a danger of a government, which is managed as a non-consensus business, of becoming a dictatorship? Of course, yes, and the citizens have to be vigilant. However, now that is the only way to “made America great again”.

From the news media:

“We congratulate President-elect Trump on his election victory and welcome his clear commitment to be a president for all Americans and to “bind the wounds of division” after a long and bruising campaign,” said Stephen M. Greenberg, chairman, and Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman & CEO, of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

“We look forward to working with President-elect Trump and his advisors in the transition before his inauguration and in the years to come during his presidency on the issues facing our country, as well as of specific concern to the American Jewish community including strengthening the special U.S.-Israel relationship, the rise of anti-Semitism and the security of the Jewish people at home and abroad,” added Greenberg and Hoenlein.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder, and Associate Dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper praised Trump’s stated policy on Jerusalem. “We are buoyed by Donald Trump’s unambiguous commitment to a strong and safe democratic Israel and his recognition of Jerusalem as its eternal and undivided capital,” they said.

Unfortunately, not all Jewish organizations appreciate the Donald Trump promise of restoring Judeo-Christian morality in America. Liberal Jewish organizations believe the weakening of Judeo-Christian foundation of America is beneficial to America, Israel and the Jews – and they are wrong!

Peoples live by God’s morality – politicians live by “discrimination” morality

Every people – be it Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Native Indian or African with all its diverse communities – is united by own unique moral code of behavior, which defines Good and Bad and acceptable means to enhance Good and suppress Bad.

Every people defends its unique moral code of behavior from the influence of other peoples’ unique moral codes of behavior. That is not the hate of others – that is the love of your own, and that is consistent with the Jewish Torah/Bible-guided morality. Hillel: If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

Every people may sincerely believe its moral code of behavior is the best for the others and may try to convert the others to its own code. If this process is mostly peaceful (with a relatively minimal violence) and the others accept the “conversion”, that is as supposed to be by the “God’s design”. That was the case with the Jewish people who began the process of pagan-morality’s transformation to the Torah-inspired Christian morality or the case with the Christian people who converted many pagans to Christian morality.

There is no hate in this conversion-transformation – finally, Judeo-Christian moral code of behavior with its multiple variations has become the guideline for many peoples.

In the US, the founders of this country and their spiritual heirs created the unique Judeo-Christian moral code of behavior, which defines the way of American life. Within the boundaries of this moral code, Jews and Christians created many diverse communities (religious/ideological streams) competing with each other with their ideas for a better world for everybody.

This competition was positive and creative since all diverse communities judged everything with the same moral ground rules – individual freedoms, free market, personal responsibility, family values and communal charity. Everybody in America – everybody of different races, religions, genders, ages, ethnicity, geographic locations, etc. – who respects and follows these rules is considered equal and there is no discrimination movements against this person (racism, homophobia, gender and age and religious discrimination, etc.). However, when some individuals begin violating the founding moral ground rules the society dislikes and restrains them. That is not discrimination against them – that is the defense of our own moral ground rules.

Our politicians invented the discrimination concepts to advance their political goals.

Politicians live by discrimination concepts, which split a people into hostile groups in such a way that the “discriminated” groups become the politicians’ winning electorate.

Of course, some White Americans dislike some Black Americans. However, that is not racism. Some White Americans dislike not the Black race; they dislike the dereliction of personal responsibility and family values and most importantly, the legislative moves to make it a sort of a moral norm in the country.

Of course, some White and Black Americans dislike gays and lesbians. However, that is not homophobia. Some White and Black Americans dislike not the humans with such sexual impulses with which gays and lesbians are born; they dislike the political moves to redefine the traditional Judeo-Christian family structure.

Of course, some Americans dislike Muslims. However, that is not Islamophobia. Some Americans do not dislike Muslim human being; they dislike Muslims as the adversaries of individual freedoms ready to murder those who do not want to become the slaves of their God.

Of course, an average female makes less money than an average male. However, that is not discrimination against women. They are making less money since many of them prefer traditional women’s professions, which are being rewarded less financially – being rewarded less not by “discriminative men” but by the free-market rules. Most Americans agree with it since they prefer free market to government-regulated economy.

Of course, many Americans do not like their money being spent by the government to support a gigantic welfare system. However, that is not discrimination against the poor and less able. Americans prefer helping poor and less able people through private local charities of the “caring neighbors” instead of the government welfare system being designed for helping politicians.

Thus, in the real Judeo-Christian America there is no discrimination of any kind – there is an overwhelming desire to defend and enhance the founding moral code of behavior that is the traditional American way of life, which is based on individual freedoms, free market, personal responsibility, family values and communal charity.

The discrimination concept is an invention of our politicians who are trying to become the spiritual and economic god-like power. They are trying to replace the individual freedoms by their own freedom to regulate our individual lives. They are trying to transform the personal responsibility in managing your life into the personal responsibility to follow government orders. They are trying to change the traditional family values to expand their electorate by people of non-Judeo-Christian morality. They are trying to substitute the communal charity by the government welfare system for the same goal – to expand their electorate by people who prefer “government goodies”.

There is no discrimination of any kind in our country – there is the Torah/Bible-guided resistance to any attempts to change our founding Judeo-Christian morality.

Very often, our rabbis’ sermons and actions contradict each other

From a sermon of a very famous rabbi:

To be a Jew is to help heal a broken world. We are the people who do not stand still. We are the people for whom life is a journey to a world of justice and compassion and healing, which is not yet, but which we will not cease until we help bring it about.

That is a powerful statement and probably all rabbis of all streams of Judaism would agree with it – that is the essence of the Torah and of the very idea of God’ making the Jews the Chosen people.

In order to “heal a broken world” we have to define the shape and characteristics of the “unbroken world” – if we do not know it, we would not know how to heal. Just one simple question of very many still unanswered: who is going to be “a king” in the “unbroken world” – an individual created in the image and likeness of God or an almighty government behaving like a god?

In order to bring to the world the “justice and compassion and healing” we have first to define what is just, what is compassionate and what is societal good health. Just one simple question of very many still unanswered: is it compassionate to invite to your home your spiritual enemies when they are suffering?

The problem is that our rabbinical community or communal leadership have not defined all that. Why? Because our rabbinical community and communal leadership are divided and instead of creating a common Torah/Bible-based spiritual foundation for defining all that in collaboration with the Christians, they are trying to separate themselves from the others with the purpose of fortifying their own spiritual territory.

We urgently need a Trump-like Jewish leader who is able to unify diverse Jewish leadership just for developing political and social characteristics of the “unbroken world”, including in those characteristics what is compassionate and what is societal good health. All that should be defined not in a generalized sermon-type terms but rather in specific terms of government-vs.-individual rights and obligations. The synagogues have to begin talking politics since we can heal the broken world only through political arrangements. Why? Because the world is broken not inside of our synagogues but outside the synagogues in the mixed Jewish-Gentile world. However, that is not the case in the Jewish world. The Jewish world is split and is supporting different rival political ideologies instead of defining the characteristics of the “unbroken world” and jointly restoring the “broken world”.

From the Jewish news media – an observation of one informed Jew:

When I still identified as a Reform Jew, I sat through countless rabbinic sermons about blatantly political subjects. Climate change was mentioned in the same breath as the weekly Torah portion, and once I even heard Barack Obama compared to Jesus! I felt increasingly unwelcome and uncomfortable as a political conservative, and eventually I stopped attending. It was impossible to ignore the fact that any negative attention toward a political topic was always oriented in one direction: rightward. The politicized, liberal bend on religious topics in the Reform movement became too much and I gradually shifted right religiously, as I already had politically. I found myself gravitating toward the Modern Orthodox camp, where not only did most of my fellow Jews believe what I believed politically, but even more importantly, politics rarely came up in communal settings.

This past week, as I saw many synagogues’ responses to Trump’s win, I was reminded of why I left the Reform movement. To be clear, I was no fan of the President-elect nor did I vote for him, despite having been a registered Republican for most of my adult life. But in liberal synagogues across the country, a state of mourning set in; some rabbis compared the response to sitting shiva. Tears were shed and support groups sprang up — not because there had been a national tragedy, but because we’d experienced a democratically decided election.

This observation is a reflection of what is going on in the Jewish religious-secular world – instead of following the Torah guidance in creating a unified unbroken world we are assisting in splitting the world into many rival groups thus making the world more broken.
